Two brothers, Anand (7) and Aditya (5), were attacked and killed by stray dogs in Delhi in a span of two days. On Friday, the police were informed about a missing child from the city’s Vasant Kunj area.

A team was deployed to help the boy’s mother to look for him in the jungle adjacent to the jhuggi, or hutment, where the family lives.

After searching for two hours, the boy’s body was found in a secluded spot with multiple injuries on his body which seemed to be caused by an animal. The locals told the police that Anand was possibly attacked by stray dogs in the jungle that also attacked goats and pigs.

The crime scene was inspected by a forensics team and the body was sent to the Safdarjung Hospital for an autopsy.

Two days after this incident, Aditya, the younger brother of Anand, and his cousins went to relieve themselves near their jhuggi today. The cousin, Chandan, who went a little far from Aditya, returned after a while to find his brother injured and surrounded by stray dogs.

A police officer, who was in the area investigating Anand’s death, heard the commotion and took Aditya to the nearest hospital. But he was declared dead on arrival. An autopsy has been done and further investigation is underway.
