The woman’s family was very angry when they found out that their unmarried daughter was pregnant. They asked him about the child’s father, but the victim did not reveal the man’s identity.

The 21-year-old woman’s mother and brother allegedly took her to the woods and set her on fire. Several farmers in the forest heard the woman’s screams. The victim was found with 70 percent burns. They took him to a hospital, police said.

He was then taken to a state-run hospital in Meerut. Now his condition is still critical. Meanwhile, his mother and brother have been arrested. “Police are questioning them in custody,” they said.

Women in India are often targets of violence, both by their families and their environment. On Wednesday, July 19 2023, a video of the attack on two women in Manipur circulated widely, sparking public outrage.

The two women were dragged, groped and paraded naked by armed men, and ended up as victims of gang rape. The incident in the video is not new. This cruel incident occurred on May 4, 2023.

The circulation of the video aroused national outrage. India’s top court said it was deeply disturbed by the images and asked the government to inform the court about steps being taken to arrest the perpetrators and ensure similar incidents do not happen again.

Opposition lawmakers immediately filed notices in both houses of parliament to discuss the ongoing violence in Manipur.

Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who remained silent during the ethnic riots in Manipur that killed at least 125 people, reacted for the first time, Thursday, July 20, 2023. Modi condemned alleged sexual attacks on women in Manipur state as “shameful” and promised tough action.

The rape of two women sparked riots. Protests are planned in several parts of India by rights groups demanding justice and a speedy investigation into the latest incidents to raise questions about the safety of women in the country. The police have arrested the perpetrator of the violence.
