MINI Countryman Shadow Edition Launched in India at Rs 49 Lakh

MINI has launched a new Shadow Edition based on the Countryman Cooper S JCW (John Cooper Works) at a price of Rs 49 lakh (ex-showroom).  Locally assembled at BMW Group Plant in Chennai, only 24 units of the special edition model have been allocated for the Indian market. The Shadow Edition is open for booking at the official MINI India website.

The highlight of this limited edition sports hatchback is the all-black treatment on its exterior along with melting silver roof and mirror caps. The piano black exterior trim along with a special double matt paint on exterior decals, and subtle elements of the Shadow Edition add a distinctive flair to the car’s overall appearance.

Other visual highlights from the MINI Shadow edition include bonnet scoop decals, front fender decals, side scuttles, door entry sills, roof rails, and Shadow Edition stickers on roof above C-pillars. The hot hatch rolls on 18-inch Grip spoke alloy wheels and John Cooper Works aerodynamics kit.

Step inside the cabin, and one is greeted with Silver and Leather Chester Malt Brown upholstery complemented by matching colour lines seen along the door panel, armrest surfaces and knee pads under the dashboard.  MINI Excitement Pack features LED interior and ambient lighting as well as a projection of the MINI logo from the exterior mirror on the driver’s side when opening and closing the car door.

MINI Countryman Shadow Edition: Features, specs

The Shadow Edition of Countryman Cooper S JCW is loaded to the brim with features such as an 8.8-inch circular instrument console, Apple CarPlay, in-built navigation system, wireless charging, the Harman Kardon Hi-Fi audio system, panoramic glass sunroof, etc. Safety package comprises features like front and passenger airbags, Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control, and Run-flat indicator.

Powering the MINI Shadow Edition is a familiar 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, that pumps out 176 bhp at 5,000-6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 280 Nm at 1,350-4,600 rpm. As for performance, the Shadow Edition can sprint to 100 kmph from a standstill in 7.5 seconds. It can breach a top speed of 225 kmph.

Transmission duties are carried out by a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. It also benefits from paddle shifters behind the steering wheel for a more engaging driving experience. There are three drive modes to choose from including Green, Standard, and Sport.
