Lionel Messi is expected to make his much-anticipated debut for Inter Miami when the Major League Soccer team plays Mexican side Cruz Azul in their Leagues Cup 2023 opener at the DRV PNK Stadium in Florida on Friday.
The Inter Miami vs Cruz Azul football match is scheduled to start at 5:30 AM in India on Saturday, July 22 due to the time difference. Fans can watch Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami debut on live streaming in India.
Record seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi left French club PSG to join American outfit Inter Miami this summer window. The Argentine World Cup winner was unveiled officially to fans amid much fanfare last week.
Lionel Messi has already started training with Inter Miami football team, which is currently coached by fellow Argentine Tata Martino. Martino and Messi have previously worked together at FC Barcelona and the Argentina national team.
However, Martino and Messi’s reunion will not be the only one to look forward to during the Inter Miami vs Cruz Azul match. Spanish World Cup winner Sergio Busquets, who has played with Messi for years at Barcelona, has been announced as Inter Miami’s latest signing and will be available to play against Cruz Azul.
Former Manchester United and England superstar David Beckham, who co-owns Inter Miami, has already hinted at a Messi debut during the Leagues Cup match.
“Leo will play some part of the game but that will be down to the coach (and) it’ll be down to Leo to decide if he’s ready because we know that he’s been away for a few weeks with his family but he looks sharp, he looks great but he’s going to need time to adapt as well,” David Beckham said.
Beckham was pictured at Messi’s first practice session with Inter Miami on Wednesday.
