European House Ambrosetti: Italian Firms Invested $6.5 Billion in India

Italian companies have invested $6.5 billion in India, showing the country’s economic importance, said Lorenzo Tavazzi of the European House Ambrosetti. This was discussed at the Villaggio Italia exposition in Mumbai, held alongside the Italian Navy ship Amerigo Vespucci’s visit.

Tavazzi highlighted Italy’s role in supporting India’s energy transition and transport through sustainable technologies and high-speed rail. Alessandro Giuliani from SDA Bocconi noted the cultural and culinary links that make Indian students feel at home in Italy.

Vijay Joshi, CEO of PTI, emphasized the cultural similarities between India and Italy, recalling his admiration for Italian brands like Lambretta and Vespa. He also pointed out India’s influence by Italian figures like Caesar and Shakespeare.

Designer Kulsum Shadab Wahab praised the warmth of Italians from her experience in Milan. Italian actor Giorgio Andriani and DJ Olly Esse shared their insights on the strong shared love for food and film between both countries.

The exposition, featuring discussions by Indian students and other speakers, was followed by a tribute concert to composer Giacomo Puccini. Luca Andreoli of Difesa Servizi described the ship’s visit as a symbol of cultural exchange and solidarity.
