Fans in Delhi can breathe sigh of relief. Delhi Metro has extended the last train timing by 30 minutes to facilitate spectators for the ICC ODI World Cup. India Cricket Team landed in Delhi on Monday ahead of the India vs Afghanistan clash on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
“To facilitate the movement of spectators during the Cricket World Cup 2023 matches (day and night) scheduled to be held on October 7th, 11th, 15th, 25th, and November 6th at Arun Jaitley Stadium (Ferozeshah Kotla Grounds) in New Delhi, the Delhi Metro has made minor changes in its last train timings on all lines (except Airport Express Line),” read a press release from the DMRC.
Additional metro on match days
The extended metro timings won’t apply to non-match days and Airport Express line. Fans already had an extended timing for the South Africa vs Sri Lanka game on Oct 7. Arun Jaitely Stadium is close to Delhi Gate metro station on the Violet line.
With a heavy rush expected on Wednesday due to the influx of Indian fans for the IND vs AFG game, Delhi Metro will be providing additional trains on Wednesday.
With car parking difficult to come by, public transport will go a long way helping fans commute on the match days. Delhi Metro being the best transport system in the National Capital Region will be crucial to connecting all the areas of the NCR.
With India coming off a fantastic 6-wicket win over Australia in the opener. With Virat Kohli in superb form, the local boy will be in focus.
