Amity University Mumbai Conclave Ignites Leadership Brilliance

The Leadership Conclave 2023, organized by Amity University Mumbai, successfully concluded on October 9th, 2023. The central theme of this conclave revolved around “The Building Blocks of Leadership.” It aimed to delve into critical topics, including challenges in academic leadership, conflict resolution in the workplace, coalition building, addressing subconscious biases and stereotypes, emotional resilience, academic leadership, and the art of influence without formal authority.

Prof. Dr. A. W. Santhosh Kumar, the Vice Chancellor of Amity University Mumbai, shed light on the distinctions among leaders, bosses, and administrators. He underscored that each role possesses unique qualities and importance. Prof. Kumar emphasized the psychological dimensions of leadership and the imperative of enhancing these qualities to effectively address critical issues at both organizational and interpersonal levels.

Prof. Dr. P. B. Sharma, a distinguished academician and Vice Chancellor of Amity University Gurgaon, delivered a keynote address during the valedictory function. He emphasized the significance of academic leadership and advocated for a shift in perspective. Dr. Sharma encouraged leaders to focus not only on learning from failure but also on gleaning valuable insights from success. He commended leadership that fosters innovation and cultivates islands of excellence within institutions.

Amity University Mumbai, in its commitment to nurturing leadership qualities among its staff members, introduced appreciation awards. These awards recognized the exceptional contributions of both teaching and non-teaching staff during the academic year 2022-23. The university honored two individuals from each category: academic staff, non-academic staff, and support staff, for their outstanding performance and dedication to leadership excellence.

Throughout the five-day conclave, esteemed speakers like Dr. Rajan Velukar, Vice Chancellor of Atlas Skill Tech University, Mumbai; Dr. V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai; Mr. Michael David, Director of Communications and Training Programs in Pune; and Dr. Chandrahauns Chavan, Professor and Director at JBIMS, University of Mumbai, shared their invaluable insights on leadership across various domains.
