Deputy Chairman of the Security Council and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev praised the Ukrainian government’s plans to rename Russia. He came up with his own name for Ukraine and presented it on his Telegram channel .
Dmitry Medvedev responded to a petition asking to call Russia only “Muscovy”, which was considered by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He believes that in response, the Ukrainian state should be named after Stepan Bandera and the German “Reich”.
“The Supreme Kiev Nazi instructed to work out the issue of renaming Russia to Muscovy. Well, what can I say… Our answer? Medvedev. It is worth noting that the phrase is translated from German as “Pig Bandera Empire.”
On March 10, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky responded to a petition to rename Russia into Muscovy , which gained 26,000 signatures. As noted by the author of the petition, Valeria Shakhvorostova, this is the historical name of the state, which began to be called Russia only 301 years ago. The President instructed Prime Minister Denis Shmygal to attract specialists and study the issue.
On March 11, the decision of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky regarding the renaming of Russia was commented by the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova . She wrote that someone is trying to turn Ukraine into “anti-Russia”.
In December 2022, journalist Roman Komyza also proposed returning the historical name to Russia – Muscovy . Thus, Ukrainians will be able to refute the long-standing narrative of the Russian authorities about “one people.”
